Duties:
Helps the team and its members by serving as a liaison between them and University staff and provides assistance as the organization practices self-sufficiency, problem-solving, and cooperation.

Savanah Downs

President

Major:
Agricultural Business & Plant Science — double major (sophomore).

 

Duties:
Represents the club at SOLE events, presides over monthly officer and club meetings, provides supportive leadership in goal setting, and handles club administration.

 

Experience:
Savanah utilizes her past experiences in the agriculture industry to serve as a guide for those interested in developing their knowledge. From tending to vegetable gardens and indoor nursery operations to working in the floral industry for many years, Savanah has a love for the plant science industry and what she can do to diversify her own skills while nurturing the passions of others.

Alexys Bautista

Vice President

Major:
Agricultural Science & Education (senior)

Duties:

Forms and supervises the club committee system and assists committee chairs, fills-in the role of president in her absence, and serves to encourage both members and the team.

Experience:
Alexys has firsthand experience in both vegetable and fruit crop production, having most familiarity with pumpkins and wine grapes. He gained these experiences through his time in the Future Farmers of America by working in a school garden bed, annual pumpkin patch, and private Napa Valley vineyard management company. His current goal is to continue expanding basic floral design skills as a way to grow both in agriculture and the realm of education.

Greg Fellows

Secretary

Major:
Plant & Soil Science with an emphasis in Crops & Horticulture (senior).

 

Duties:

Sends out monthly email reminders to the club list with upcoming events/activities, takes down minutes and topics covered at all meetings, and manages the 'Cats Connect' page to gather new member emails & information.

Experience:

Greg has an extensive background in agricultural niches due to community college and 4H. From beekeeping and cultivating mushrooms to working at the aquaponics unit and being an avid vermicomposter— he has a passion for wanting to make soils better for the planet and the inhabitants within it.

Karla Ahumada

Treasurer

Major:
Agricultural Business & Crop Science — double major, specializing in Pest Control Management (sophomore).


Duties:
Approves all purchases, updates the club ledger, creates finance reports, sells merchandise, contacts potential sponsors, and assists all members interested in starting a personal project or attending related conferences.

Experience:
Karla utilizes knowledge from her major & educational background to work in facets of organic and conventional farming. She's picked strawberries, packed lettuce, pulled weeds, and worked in safety control. Her ultimate goal is to go back to her hometown region and work as a PCA to help save farmers' money and ensure the rights of field workers.

Aubrey Teckam

Industry Relations

Major:
Plant & Soil Science major and Agricultural Business minor with an emphasis in Crops & Horticulture (junior).

 

Duties:

Initiates and maintains connections with community members, thanks like-minded organizations for coming to speak to our club, organizes tours of local businesses, and attends monthly NorCal CAPCA Chapter meetings.

Experience:

Growing up in a homestead-style household, Aubrey learned skills in planting, harvesting, and monitoring crops with her family who grew nearly all of their own produce in orchard and vegetable plots. Aubrey works as an agronomy lab technician studying cover crops as a sustainable agriculture practice. Her ultimate goal is to obtain her PCA license and work closely with the rice industry.

Damon Gallegos

Campus & Farm Relations

Major:
Animal Science major and Biological Sciences minor, on the Pre-Veterinary Medicine pathway (freshman).


Duties:
Represents the club at ICC meetings and other campus events, reserves spaces for club function, serves as a line of communication between the club and campus & farm staff, and encourages everyone to engage in more experiences & avenues of learning regardless of their current level of knowledge of the crop science & horticulture industries.
​
Experience:
Damon throughout his four years of high school earned various awards competing as a florist. He also has experience raising nursery stock, such as flowering shrubs. Working at a family farm, he assisted in the production & sale of honey paired with an effort to promote pollinator conservation. His goal is to learn more about the crop science & horticulture industries and guide each new member with open arms who share that similar goal.

Kimberly Holguin

Reporter

Major:
Agricultural Science and Education, specializing in Plant Science (junior).

 

Duties:
Manages all forms of media (phone & film photography + videography), posts on social media platforms (instagram, youtube, tik tok), creates website/scrapbook content, connects with various organizational bodies on campus, and assists with award applications.
​
Experience:
Kimberly has been a reporter for various organizations since elementary school, coming up with creative ways to be inclusive and thorough with forms of media as a method of agricultural literacy. She's worked as an agronomy lab technician, nursery helper, and in animal husbandry. Her ultimate goal is to become a high school agriculture teacher and provide crop based projects and professional research experiences for students.
