On the wet & rainy Saturday, December 3rd our members had the opportunity to connect with a local organization for the Donuts & Planting service activity. The VECTORS Organization was formed in 1994 as a way to provide reintegration services to veterans, ending homelessness within the community by support in housing, work, & food. We were honored to assist in the clean-up of two yards on the property, using landscape design practices to determine what plants & other materials would make the place feel neat and welcoming. This started with taking down an old garden bed, raking up leaves, moving stones, and yard-stapling landscape fabric on dirt patches for weed prevention. Our goal is to finish this aspect of the project the following Saturday, December 10th and continue with planting flowers & drought resistant herbs as well as set up irrigation systems in the Spring Semester. We'd like to extend a huge sign of gratitude & appreciation to the Home Depot of Chico for donating all supplies needed for this service project. Thank you to everyone who came out to help and we hope to keep this beautiful strong connection with the VECTOR's organization for years to come! 🌱 🍩
